February 8, 2012 - EMILY MADDISON SET TO OPEN SEASON IN SOUTH FLORIDA

Ready to get back behind the wheel, Canadian female pilot Emily Maddison will make her 2012 debut at the Homestead Karting Complex for rounds three and four of the Formula Kart Productions Florida Winter Tour. Set to do battle in the Rotax Senior category aboard an Overdrive Motorsports powered FA Kart, Maddison will work under the Phil Giebler Racing banner as she looks to start her season off strong.

Having been out of the kart since last November's SuperKarts! USA (SKUSA) SuperNationals, Maddison recently travelled to Southern California to complete some testing. Working with the Phil Giebler Racing (PGR) squad, Maddison turned countless laps as she looked to get back in the groove before heading to the Sunshine State.

"I had a good test in California and it was definitely important to get back in the kart," expressed Maddison. "I am looking forward to heading to Florida for some Florida Winter Tour action. The Rotax Senior field is incredibly strong with international drivers making the trip from all over the world."

Maddison will run an FA Kart under the PGR tent but will utilize Overdrive Motorsports power. Based out of Calgary, Alberta, Overdrive Motorsports has been a fixture on the Western half of North America with a race team, driver coaching and engine development program for the Rotax powerplants. Owned and operated by Joey Guyon, Maddison will not only use Overdrive power in all Rotax action, but she will drive an FA Kart with the Overdrive Motorsports squad for all Canadian events in the Western Canadian Championships.

Looking to make the most of her 2012 karting season, the highest-ranking female in the eKartingNews.ca Rotax Senior Driver Rankings will be paired with tuner Ryan Ruth. Hailing from Arizona, Ruth will turn the wrenches for Maddison as the duo looks to fight for strong results. Not a stranger on the karting scene, Ruth is son of KGB's Dan Ruth and brother of Innovative Karting's Curtis Ruth. Owning a company of his own, Ruthless Motorsports, Ryan has more than 25 years experience and specializes in kart and formula car preparation and driver development.

"I have known the Maddison family for years," explained Ryan Ruth. "I have seen Emily compete at Western Canadian Championship events as I have helped out her brother in his karting days and Joey / Overdrive Motorsports for the past few seasons. Emily has shown speed both north and south of the border and I am looking forward to getting her up to speed at the Florida Winter Tour. I am also very eager to work with the guys at Phil Giebler Racing and the FA Kart line of products."

Known in the car ranks for extensive mechanical and race car engineering and team management running programs in Pro Mazda, Indy Lights as well as USA midgets and sprint cars, Ruth also runs a karting program at the SuperKarts! USA Pro Tour events while working for Overdrive Motorsports at the Gatorz Challenge of the Americas.
